Market Update:

Uncertainty is probably the best word to now describe the Irish property market. One way to lift this cloud is for purchasers to sign contracts subject to a well drafted loan approval/drawdown clause. This can protect the buyer against the risk of losing the deposit due to circumstances outside of their control. A loss of job or a lower property valuation could prevent the drawdown of monies in full or part from the bank. Flexibility between purchasers and vendors is therefore the key to free up what otherwise could be a stagnant market.
